Frequently Asked Questions
Can appointments be in-person and online?
Yes, appointments can either be in-person or via telehealth online. However, in-person appointments are limited to Wednesdays only, and located at 386 Malvern Rd. Prahran, VIC.
Can I do Telehealth appointments outside of Australia?
No, Akbay Psychology services (including online Telehealth) are limited to Australian residents. We do not provide treatment and assessment services internationally or for individuals based outside of Australia.
Do I need a referral to access your services?
It depends on the funding type you'll use to pay the service fees. If you want to claim the Medicare rebates, then yes, you will need a GP referral under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP). Please see the "Fees" section of the Services page for more information about this.
How can I access the Concession Appointment fee?
Concession rates for appointments are available for Low-Income Health Care Card holders, and applied after providing Akbay Psychology with a copy of your card. Please visit Services Australia for information on eligibility. We may request proof of eligibility from time-to-time.
Can I book an appointment for someone else?
We understand that it can be difficult for some people to seek help for themselves, but to maintain confidentiality and privacy, Akbay Psychology will only discuss appointments with the individual client who is attending the appointment. However, you may encourage the individual to reach out and Contact us if they are considering going to therapy.
Do you see people of all ages?
Akbay Psychology only offers its services to adults aged 18 and above.
What if I need help urgently or have an emergency?
Akbay Psychology is not a crisis service. At times, we may even have a waiting list for new clients. Please contact your GP if you need urgent support, or for emergencies, please call 000.
